It is critical that individuals with developmental disabilities know how to keep themselves safe and understand the “relationship spectrum.” In this workshop, adults with developmental disabilities and their families will learn what abuse is, what the signs of abuse are, what to do if you or a loved one has experienced abuse and what steps can be taken to reduce the risk of abuse. Attendees will also learn tips for communication, how to identify a support system and how to understand healthy versus unhealthy relationships.
The seminar is free and open to the community and is presented by Joshua’s Path at Goodman JFS of Broward County. The Joshua’s Path program educates and empowers adults with developmental disabilities and their parents, siblings and other caregivers by providing free consultations, a searchable website, resources and educational seminars.
